Topic: just starting to plan--a few questions

Hi all--had a few questions. I am organizing a trip for my husband and family. There will be about 8-12 adults taking a southbound Alaska cruise and land tour. Probably about 11-12 days. We are wanting to go next year, maybe August. I was going to ask you if you would rec. any of the following over the others? Princess, Royal Car., Celebrity, or Holland America? Does one line show more glaciers from the ship or wildlife on the excursions? Do any of them have discounts for >55 years old? We've been on cruises before but never Alaska and I can't wait for my family to see the mountains! Is there a good side of the ship to get a room on or are their mountains on either side? Do some cruise lines have more or less room for viewing during the day? Maybe some dumb questions, but I gotta ask. Also, if we have our choice to stay at one city for 2 days, which would you all pick? Lastly, if any agents are reading this, I have a big concern with leaving from Vancouver. We have one person in our group who has a HISTORY of drunk driving tickets. In the past. BUT, I have heard he may not be able to get into Canada with this history. Is this true? I just don't want to plan this big trip and then have him turned away when we're all about to board this ship! Thanks in advance for any advice you all could give me. I am now going to read about all your reviews! Sincerely, Robin O
